HOTEL 1000 FACEBOOK SCAVENGER HUNT
Hotel 1000 is an award-winning luxury hotel in Seattle and named as one of Conde Nast’s top 200 hotels per readers’ choice. With the growing popularity of social media, and the hotel’s need to increase its social media presence, Milestone Internet Marketing strategized ways to promote Hotel 1000’s newly revamped website, which launched in October 2011. Part of its aggressive marketing plan is creative social media push with the “Hotel 1000 Scavenger Hunt” Facebook contest.
The scavenger hunt questions were only visible to Hotel 1000’s facebook fans, and in order for non-fans to access the questions they must like the page.
Results of the eight-week promotion were incredible:
- 16% increase in Facebook fans (3x the average daily fan growth vs the previous eight weeks)
- 30% increase in traffic to the website from Facebook (vs the previous eight weeks)
- 31% increase in daily page engagement in the month after the contest was completed
- 30% increase in daily total reach in the month after the contest was completed
- The amount of daily views to the promotional video hosted on the Hotel 1000 homepage saw a 9x spike during the launch of the Facebook contest.
These results show that there are effective, creative, and engaging ways to use social media to gain brand awareness and increase online traffic to your business, which then helps drive revenue.
