The Museum set five key objectives for the 20th anniversary to:
� Raise awareness of the Museum and its educational outreach and genocide prevention efforts
� Inspire Museum supporters to carry forward the Holocaust�s lessons and to make a commitment to ensuring the future of the Museum and Holocaust education
� Position the Museum as an institution rooted in the truth about the past and relevant to the issues of today, dealing with critical issues of the time
� Launch the Museum�s comprehensive fundraising campaign to secure the future
� Honor the Museum�s most powerful teachers �survivors and World War II veterans � in Washington D.C., and to reach out to them in their own local communities.
