Best Financial Services Interactive Application

Intended for a broad audience of investors and advisors, John Hancock Investments’ Market Intelligence provides a comprehensive review of the investment landscape from our global network of more than 75 asset managers and investment partners. This quarterly publication highlights our multimanager approach, which provides our dedicated in-house research team with a unique advantage: the ability to leverage the very best market insight from our diverse network. Although Market Intelligence rapidly became a success on its debut in mid-2014, its reach was limited by the fact that it was only available as a printed book and downloadable PDF. In January 2017, we launched an interactive version, available as an iPad app in Apple’s App Store, and in July 2017, we launched a web app, available for desktop and all mobile devices. Features of the app and desktop versions include:
• Our 12- to 18-month outlook for a range of asset classes
• Interactive charts and our guided view
• Key macro themes from our asset management network
• Automatic updates and notifications
• Related thought leadership and portfolio manager videos from our Viewpoints blog
To support the launch, we initiated a marketing campaign that included advertisements, targeted email, social media posts, online search engine optimization, a dedicated landing page (jhinvestments.com/marketintelligence), and print materials.

Objectives

With the launch of the digital properties, we aimed to broaden the audience for Market Intelligence and provide a new tool for advisors to enhance client engagement in discussions about today’s investment landscape; the use of interactive charts and automatic updates and notifications offered further opportunities for a heightened level of engagement. Finally, the use of links directing users to related thought leadership and portfolio manager videos from our Viewpoints blog was intended to elevate John Hancock Investments’ reputation as a leader in market insight and highlight our unique position at the hub of a vast and diverse asset management network.


Results

• Since its debut in early 2017, the Market Intelligence app and web experience have amassed over 143,000 page views.
• There have been over 3,000 registrations of the app, with an average session lasting seven minutes, which shows engagement with the deep content.
• The app has generated approximately 5,000 sales leads.
• The emails alerting users to recent updates have a 0% bounce rate, suggesting that users are receiving the content they expect.
