Many Delaware residents and tourists are wary about frequenting restaurants, retail stores, and entertainment venues given the pandemic. Delaware developed a program to provide consumers with an additional level of confidence that a business is making efforts to keep the public and employees safe by complying with the State’s current operating guidelines. They created Customer Protection Standards for businesses to follow – and provided a shield decal for businesses to affix to their entrance to indicate they are participating. The communications needed to help customers understand what businesses are doing to keep them safe, build customer confidence in being able to go to places that are operating safely, explain the State's COVID-19 Customer Protection Standards, and let people know they can look for the Protection Standards shield logo on businesses to know who is making the effort. We wanted to generate awareness of the shield and direct people to delbiz.com/protect to see who was participating. And, it was critical in the pandemic environment to break through the clutter with a look that differentiated from other Covid messages.
