The strategy behind the Simple Power brand is to be the anti-electricity company. With all the ill feelings towards most electricity companies, and the fact that Simple Power was entering an already crowded space rich with alternative electricity providers, our approach to the brand and the Web site was to create a much friendlier and approachable brand and site experience that created could aid in the separation from Simple’s competitors and avoid a price only point of differentiation.
The target audience for Simple Power is anyone in the state of Texas where electricity service deregulation has been implemented. Because each municipality has the option to deregulate (even though the state passed the law, it’s still an option at the city level) the site features a system to verify a visitor’s zip code and whether or not they are in a serviceable area.
Behind this site is a robust content management system that not only manages the surface level content but also serviceable zip codes, the management of those zips, a dynamic pricing engine that allows the rates to update as often as necessary, and more.
